La mejor manera de ver las auroras boreales iluminando el cielo de Islandia es hacer una excursión privada guiada en un SUV 4×4 que pueda llevarle al lugar adecuado, donde el cielo esté despejado y oscuro.
Podemos ocuparnos de usted en una salida corta fuera de Reikiavik o en una excursión más larga en la que nos quedamos en el campo, lejos de las luces de la ciudad, entre 3 y 5 días, o más si lo desea.
Podemos organizar, personalizar y encargarnos de reservar el alojamiento según dónde haya mejor visibilidad en cada momento. Podemos llevar trípodes y ropa de abrigo, y también podemos ayudarle con los ajustes de la cámara para que consiga buenas fotografías de las auroras boreales cuando aparezcan. Las auroras boreales se producen sobre todo a altitudes de entre 90 y 150 km, o de 50 a 100 millas; incluso pueden llegar a 1000 km, 650 millas, sobre la Tierra.
En Islandia es posible ver las auroras boreales, también llamadas aurora borealis, en el periodo que va de septiembre a abril; solo hace falta un cielo oscuro y despejado y, por supuesto, actividad en el cielo provocada por partículas cargadas eléctricamente que chocan con el campo magnético terrestre.

My tour of Iceland in March was perhaps the best travel experience I have ever had. Our tour guide, Thor, did his utmost to make sure we had the best experience possible. We were able to see the northern lights on three nights and he took fabulous photos and beforehand told us a little bit about science behind the northern light. The accommodations were wonderful, the food was excellent, and in out-of-the-way places, the tour arranged for private meals where there weren’t restaurants. It was wonderful to go in March to see the northern lights and to avoid the crowds from the cruise ships.
