Northern lights private guided tours.
The best way to see the Northern Lights illuminating the sky above Iceland is to be on a private guided tour on an SUV 4×4 that can take you to the right place where the sky is clear and dark. We can take care of you for a short tour out of Reykjavik or a longer tour where we stay in the countryside away from the city lights for 3 – 5 days or longer if you like. We can arrange, customize and take care of booking accommodation based upon the best visibility of where to stay at each time. We can bring tripods and warm clothes, we are also able to assist with camera settings for you to take great photos of the Northern lights when they show. Northern lights occur in altitudes mainly from 90 to 150 km or 50 to 100 mi, they can even be up to 1000 km, 650 mi above the Earth.
It is possible to see the Northern lights, also called Aurora Borealis in Iceland from the period between September to April, all it needs is a dark and clear sky and of course activity in the sky that is caused by electrically charged particles hitting the earth’s magnetic field. The Solar storm comes from the Sun, travels through space when it hits the Earth’s magnetic field
