We can take care of you for a short tour out of Reykjavik or a longer tour where we stay in the countryside away from the city lights for 3 – 5 days or longer if you like.
We can arrange, customize, and take care of booking accommodation based on the best visibility of where to stay each time. We can bring tripods and warm clothes, we are also able to assist with camera settings for you to take great photos of the Northern lights when they show. Northern lights occur in altitudes mainly from 90 to 150 km or 50 to 100 mi, they can even be up to 1000 km, 650 mi above the Earth.
It is possible to see the Northern lights, also called Aurora Borealis in Iceland from the period between September to April, all it needs is a dark and clear sky and of course activity in the sky that is caused by electrically charged particles hitting the earth’s magnetic field.

My tour of Iceland in March was perhaps the best travel experience I have ever had. Our tour guide, Thor, did his utmost to make sure we had the best experience possible. We were able to see the northern lights on three nights and he took fabulous photos and beforehand told us a little bit about science behind the northern light. The accommodations were wonderful, the food was excellent, and in out-of-the-way places, the tour arranged for private meals where there weren’t restaurants. It was wonderful to go in March to see the northern lights and to avoid the crowds from the cruise ships.
